Southwest Idaho Food Bank Fund -2023 Grant Recipients

Thirty-seven nonprofit organizations receive funds to finance projects and services supporting food insecure Idahoans

Boise, ID – The Idaho Food Bank Fund announced the recipients of their 2023 grants targeted to  support nonprofits that provide nutrition awareness, promote healthy eating, and relieve hunger.  Thanks to the generosity of Idaho taxpayers who chose to donate to the Idaho Food Bank Fund,  this year 37 organizations across the state received grants to further their work to solve hunger in  Idaho. The grants totaling $139,600 were specifically allocated to help recipients operate  programs, purchase food, expand capacity (new freezers, shelving, transportation, etc.), and to promote or provide nutrition education for under-served and marginalized Idahoans.

Thirteen organizations in Southwest Idaho were given grants this year. Please see below for the complete list of Southwest Idaho grant recipients. We encourage you to contact these organizations to get further information on their grant projects and how they  serve the community.

Passed by the Idaho State Legislature in 2009, the Idaho Food Bank Fund provides financial support to Idaho nonprofits who offer food insecurity relief. The Idaho Foodbank serves as the  official fiduciary agent and partners with Catholic Charities of Idaho and the  Community Action  Partnership Association of Idaho to administer the awards annually.

Grant Applications for Idaho Food Bank Fund 2023

The Idaho Food Bank Fund is accepting grant applications during the month of July. This grant application process is open between July 1st and July 31st to Idaho 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations. Grant funding is available to provide nutrition awareness, promote healthy eating, or relieve hunger.

Funds can be used to operate programs; purchase food; purchase nutrition education materials; expand capacity (new freezers, shelving, transportation, etc.); or promote access for anyone in need, including underserved and/or marginalized populations. 501(c)3 hunger relief organizations serving Idahoans are eligible to apply for these grants.

New this year, we are inviting Innovation Proposals for a small number of potentially larger grants. These proposals will feature innovative services that address hunger and food insecurity while also improving overall individual, family, and community well-being.  Innovation Proposals will likely include collaboration with other service providers and additional funding partners.

In 2022, grants totaling $233,900 were allocated to 47 statewide nonprofits that provide critical nutrition education and hunger relief services across the state.

Idaho Food Bank Fund Accepting Grant Applications Throughout July

Boise, ID – The Idaho Food Bank Fund announced today that its 2022 grant application process is open between July 1 and July 31, 2022 to Idaho 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide nutrition awareness, promote healthy eating or relieve hunger. Funds can be used to operate programs; purchase food; purchase nutrition education materials; expand capacity (new freezers, shelving, transportation, etc); or promote access for anyone in need, including underserved and/or marginalized populations.

The Idaho Food Bank Fund was established by the Idaho State Legislature in 2009 and provides financial support to Idaho nonprofits. It is administered by Catholic Charities of Idaho, Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho, and The Idaho Foodbank. The fund is financed by the generosity of the Idaho taxpayers when they donate through a “check off” box on their Idaho State tax returns. In 2021 grants totaling $133,500 were allocated to 36 statewide nonprofits that provide critical nutrition education and hunger relief services across the state.

  • Hunger relief organizations serving Idahoans are eligible to apply for these grants
  • Applicants do not need to be associated with the steward organizations mentioned above to apply for or receive funding.
  • Grants will be awarded in early October 2022.

The Idaho Food Bank Fund was established by the Idaho State Legislature in 2009 and monies are accepted on behalf of donors by the Idaho Tax Commission by what is commonly known as a “tax check off” on Idaho State tax returns. The Idaho Foodbank is the recognized fiduciary agent for the Idaho Food Bank Fund, which is administered through an agreement among three statewide organizations: The Idaho Foodbank, Catholic Charities of Idaho and the Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho.

When the minimum Fund balance is reached – as required by the Idaho State Legislature – non-profits such as emergency food pantries, community kitchens, senior centers and shelters, can apply to the Idaho Food Bank Fund for grants.
