How it Works

Donating Is Easy!

When completing your state tax form there is an area for making a donation to various Idaho non-profits.

Make your donation here on the tax form to The Idaho Food Bank Fund, which is labeled Idaho Foodbank Fund on line 40 as seen below:

When the minimum Fund balance is reached – as required by the Idaho State Legislature – non-profits such as emergency food pantries, community kitchens, senior centers, and shelters, can apply to the Idaho Food Bank Fund for grants.

Grants can be applied for during the month of July, which are then reviewed by a committee and distributed in the fall.

Instructions from Idaho State Tax Commission:

DONATIONS The donations on lines 34 through 41 are voluntary and will either reduce your refund or increase your tax due. Your choice to donate is irrevocable; you can’t get a refund later. These donations may be itemized as charitable contribution deductions on your state income tax return. If you have questions about your donation(s), contact the agencies listed. If you’re filing an amended return, your donations can’t be less than the amounts on the original return.

Contributions assist Idaho hunger relief organizations in meeting the increasing demand for emergency food needed by hungry Idaho families, children, and senior citizens. Contributions allow the Idaho Foodbank to provide Idaho community-based nonprofit groups with grants to increase their capacity to provide hunger relief services and/or nutrition education programs in Idaho. The Idaho Food Bank Fund is a statewide collaboration administrated by the Idaho Foodbank, Catholic Charities of Idaho, and Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho.
