Idaho Food bank Fund Announces Grant Applications for Hunger Relief

The Idaho Food Bank Fund will accept grant applications between July 15 and August 15 from any Idaho nonprofit that provides hunger relief. The grant funds are targeted at projects that will expand existing food storage or distribution capacities or otherwise increase support services related to hunger relief in Idaho.

The Idaho Food Bank Fund was established by the 2009 Legislature as a cooperative effort between three well-respected statewide Idaho nonprofit organizations: The Idaho Foodbank, Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho and Catholic Charities of Idaho. The donation opportunity was on the 2009 Idaho State Income Tax Form 40, which allowed taxpayers to designate a dollar amount for the Fund.

Taxpayers’ generosity will allow the Fund’s Executive Committee to distribute as much as $75,000 this year to address a wide range of needs. The stated purpose of the Fund allows food providers to request funding for emergency food purchases, assistance to expand capacities, and funding for hunger relief services and programs.

With the demand for emergency food in Idaho up 29% this year, the resources of food providers large and small are stretched. The Idaho Food Bank Fund’s goal is to provide critically needed financial assistance and have an immediate impact on the ability of nonprofits to assist our hungry Idaho neighbors.

Qualified applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations but are not required to have any connection with Community Action Partnership of Idaho, Catholic Charities of Idaho or The Idaho Foodbank.

Application forms can be found at http://idahofoodbankfund.org/about-the-fund/apply-for-grant. For more information about the grants email grants@idahofoodbank.org. To learn more about the fund and view the public service announcement go to http://idahofoodbankfund.org/.
